FAQ

WHAT PRINTING METHODS DO YOU OFFER?
Inkfancy is a 100% letterpress studio.
WHAT IS LETTERPRESS PRINTING?
Letterpress is a centuries-old relief printing technique requiring a printer to compose and lock a design onto the bed of a press, ink it and press paper against it by hand, making a long-lasting impression.
Small variations in ink color and coverage are not only expected, but celebrated, making every piece unique.
WHAT KIND OF PAPER DO YOU USE?
Our paper is 100% tree-free cotton, made specifically for letterpress printing. The house stock is 110 lb weight and comes in pure and pearl white, with matching 32lb envelopes. Upgrades to 220 lb paper are also available.
IS THERE A MINIMUM ORDER?
Our minimum order is for 25 invitations, suites or announcements. We can accommodate any requests beyond that, in increments of 5. Please refer to our Price List for further information.
DO YOU OFFER EMBELLISHMENTS?
The beauty of letterpress is that it elevates any piece of stationery by the mere act of being printed. However, if you require even more luxury, we are happy to add envelope liners, belly bands, or ribbons to your suite. Please refer to our Price List for further information.
WILL YOU PROOFREAD MY WORDING?
We will gladly offer you guidance regarding your wording and provide you with multiple proofs during the design and vetting process.
However, the responsibility of proofreading the final design prior to printing, lies with you.
WHAT INK COLORS DO YOU HAVE AVAILABLE?
We mix inks by hand, using solid uncoated PANTONE inks. You can give us a solid uncoated PANTONE color if you have access to the appropriate color fan. Otherwise, you can send us a physical swatch (fabric or paint samples) to match.
HOW WILL YOU SHIP MY ORDER?
Seattle area residents can pick up their stationery from our print shop in Phinney Ridge. We ship orders to customers outside Seattle and the continental US via USPS Priority Mail, UPS or FedEx delivery.
WILL YOU PRINT MY (OR MY FRIENDS) DESIGN?
Inkfancy is a one-woman/one-press shop. We can only accommodate our own work while maintaining the level of service our customers are accustomed to.
CAN YOU RECREATE A DESIGN I FOUND ONLINE?
We welcome any inspiration that will help us create the perfect design for you. However, we will not copy another designer’s work.
WHEN SHOULD I SEND OUT MY SAVE THE DATES AND INVITATIONS?
Common etiquette calls for wedding invitations to be shipped 6 to 8 weeks in advance of the wedding. These should go out earlier (10 to 12 weeks in advance) for destination weddings. Save the dates are not absolutely necessary and can certainly be more informal and even paperless. These shold be sent out 6-8 months before a destination wedding or 4-6 months before a more accessible, local celebration.
MY WEDDING IS IN 10 WEEKS (OR LESS). CAN YOU STILL HELP ME?
We normally require new work to begin at least 12 weeks in advance of the event. However, if you’re in a bind, contact us with the pertinent information. We might be able to fit you in, though a rush order fee will apply.
